Worship at Vantage Point
“From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly;…they who seek the Lord will praise Him….and all the families of the nations will bow down before Him.” – Ps 22:22-25
One of the many ways that we worship our great God is with music and singing. We want to follow the example of King David who was not ashamed of exuberant worship or loud volume (“four thousand are to praise the Lord with the musical instruments I have provided for that purpose” – 1 Chron 23:5).What God does in our hearts flows over into thanksgiving and praise and we want to be wild and expressive (and sometimes just quiet and in awe) when we spend time in the presence of our Saviour-Lover-Friend. We do this privately at home and publicly in a church meeting (and in the car and in the shower and in the kitchen, of course!).
The music team is there to help us keep in tune and to fire us up to sing a bit louder. The guys and girls in the team should therefore have had lots of intimate time with Jesus so that they can make a “joyful noise” when they get together to help the rest of the troops (the whole church, ready to shout God’s praises!!) And then those helpful sound-magicians turn the knobs so that the violin and the cymbal can give each other a go, and the techno-boffins on the computer churn out the words and pictures and movies so we can all sing the same song together. We LOVE worshipping God and we LOVE making music while we’re doing it. So if you love this too and you love Jesus, you certainly have something to add.
We practice together on Thursday evenings at 18h30 and you are welcome to join in “unplugged”. If you would like to know more, please speak to Rob, or contact the office on (014)537 2630.
To help you worship in the shower and in the kitchen, you might want to try out some great new worship CDs:
