FLIGHT TO MALAWI

Four years ago God spoke prophetically that Vantage Point Church would be involved in His church-plant in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. In fulfilment of this prophecy Max and Grace were commissioned earlier this year; and sent out as a shoot from this church.
Recently, Vantage Point delegated a small team of 5 people to assist Maxwell in the initial stages of this process – Ralph, Wouter, Joshua, Rob and Trish. We believe that God is going to do something phenomenal in Lilongwe and that each of us is called to be a part; some to pray, some to go, some to give. We envisage teams going up regularly because we are planting a cosmopolitan church and it is impossible for Max and Grace to do this alone. It is going to require much assistance and expertise from our church.
What a privilege it was to go! Had it not been for Ralph, the expert pilot, I think Rob and I would not have risked our lives in our tiny six-seater Cessna, especially as the cabin crew consisted of Joshua as the ‘co-pilot’ and Wouter as the ‘trolley-dollie’. As we flew over Beit Bridge I rejoiced that we could wave our passports from above and be through the border in a matter of seconds rather than standing on the ground for hours in a queue.
Max and Grace are doing so well. We sat and chatted for hours, planning and strategising with them. We prayed over the land where God has spoken for Max to plant. The government is selling off plots here and Max is investigating. We participated in two church meetings with a small group in a classroom, which is their temporary meeting place. A more central venue is required.
As a family they are looking for suitable accommodation and a vehicle. They need our prayers.
We as a church, together with Max and Grace, have never been this way before. Although we have done much training and equipping work in Malawi, we have planted a church from the ground up. We are trusting God to lead us every way step of the way in this God-given partnership with them to advance the Kingdom as Jesus builds His church in Lilongwe.
