Men ALIVE!
2010 is the year of planting and sowing. In our ministry towards men in the church there is a fresh focus to grow friendship and fellowship with Jesus Christ personally and with each other. This is developed through various informal and more organised meetings such as home groups, Sunday meetings, training times, one on one meetings for “coffee” at various restaurants/coffee shops, as well as prayer times for men.
But the most significant times of fellowship that are forming among the men are the men’s morning meetings or weekend meetings that are specifically focused on fellowship, love and encouragement but also training and developing Christian disciplines. Some men had the opportunity during this term to take part in weekend outings to the venue at SHALOM on the farm of Gerhard and Marli Olivier near Swartruggens.
Shalom is a wonderful place of peace and tranquillity where the owners Gerhard, Marli, Koos and Willemien are warm-hearted down to earth farmers with a love for the Saviour. People are always deeply touched when they spend time at Shalom and this term was no exception for the men that went there. The experience of the bushveld, a working farm, the wonder of nature and the fellowship of friends all fostered a real sense of how great our God is.
I would like to invite all men in Vantage Point Church to seek opportunities to go and spend some time at Shalom with the brothers. We will in the 2nd term again organise opportunities that will be more widely announced. Men can also speak to me or Dries to organise any type of event for men that will foster fellowship, unity, friendship and just enjoying life together.
I would like to encourage every man at Vantage Point Church to join us in our Men Alive Ministry.
